A metáfora não está presente apenas na literatura. Ao contrário, ela faz parte da linguagem diária e é usada em várias situações comunicativas. O equipamento mostrado na foto, usado para erguer veículos para trocar pneus, por exemplo, é conhecido como "macaco jacaré" na língua portuguesa. O povo, movido pelo imaginário, associou a forma alongada do equipamento ao formato do corpo de um jacaré.
A comunicação é surpreendente! não é mesmo?

Metaphor is not only present in literature. On the contrary, it is part of the everyday language and is used in several communicative situations. The equipment showed on the shot, used for lifting cars to replace tires, for instance, is known as "macaco jacaré" in Portuguese language. The people, based on inventiveness, has associated the equipment extended form to the shape of an alligator.
Communication is really amazing! isn't it?

A incorporação de palavras estrangeiras é uma das formas como as línguas se tranformam e criam novos significados. A língua portuguesa não está livre desse fenômeno. A imagem acima mostra o rastro deixado pela tribo do "skate", um esporte radical praticado por jovens que coloca sua marca não apenas nos murais urbanos, mas também na comunicação.

Incorporating foreign words is one of the ways languages transform themselves and produce new meanings. The Portuguese language is not free from that phenomena. The shot above shows the track of the tribe of skate, a radical sport performed by young guys which put its mark not only on the urban murals, but also in communication.

Oxford English Dictionary Oficializa Abreviações

Aqueles que condenam as abreviações usadas pelos jovens no MSN e nos torpedos foram supreendidos esta semana por uma notícia inesperada. O tradicionalíssimo Dicionário da Língua Inglesa, Oxford English Dictionary (OED), acaba de incorporar algumas abreviações, como "OMG" (Oh my god) e "LOL"(laughing out loud), em seu conteúdo, reconhecendo-as, assim, como termos oficiais.
Novos tempos, novas ideias. Afinal, parece que em termos de linguagem, somos bem mais tradicionais que os ingleses.
